2 Thayer Road Remodel — Complete Interior Renovation with Reclaimed Redwood Detailing

Hansmann Construction completed a full interior remodel of a home at 2 Thayer Road in Santa Cruz, CA. The project scope included:

• Complete interior renovation throughout the home

• Reclaimed old-growth (virgin) redwood, salvaged from the home's original walls and repurposed as door trim and interior wall accents — preserving a material with historical value rather than discarding it during the remodel

• Custom millwork approach: existing redwood was re-milled and reused rather than sourced new, giving the finished interior a material story unique to the property

This project reflects Hansmann Construction's approach to interior remodels that preserve and repurpose original materials — particularly relevant for older Santa Cruz homes where reclaimed old-growth redwood, cedar, or fir may still be present in the original structure.
